The Waddell Family
Adam and Karen Waddell are the proud owners of Salty Goat Laundry Service. Together with their daughter, Michaela, they have happily called Gates County home since May 2020.
Adam is an active duty Senior Chief Gunner's Mate in the United States Navy. He has been on active duty status since 2006, and has served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the USS Ponce, the USS Leyte Gulf, and the USS Winston S. Churchill. He has also served with ACB-2 and has completed one IA deployment. Adam has deployed six times in his sixteen years of service, all of which were over six months long. Adam is currently stationed at MARMAC as an advanced vertical launching system technician. He is currently working toward his undergraduate degree in entrepreneurship with a concentration in small business ownership. When not working, you can often find Adam on the couch with his favorite snuggle buddies: his Great Dane, Kimber, and his rescued Plott hound mix, Rachel.
Karen is currently the Director of Choirs at Nansemond River High School. She has taught music in the Virginia public school system for 12 years. Karen has earned both her Master's and Educational Specialist degrees while teaching full-time. In addition, she is in the final stages of obtaining her Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Educational Technology and Online Learning. Karen currently is developing two classes for Virtual Virginia, one for middle school and one for the high school level. When not involved in education-related activities, Karen enjoys relaxing with her Great Dane, Weller.
When asked to describe herself, Michaela said, "I'm Michaela. I'm awesome. I like dragons." You can often find her playing with her rescue dog, Arrow.
The dogs had nothing to say.
